Braveheart and Christian Men

I think Braveheart has to be the most overused pop cultural icon referred to in Men's ministry. Not saying it's wrong or right, just stating the obvious. Interested to see if anyone can knock Braveheart from its prominent place.

Misquoted Scripture (Scripture Used To Teach Ideas Incorrectly)

Matt 18:15-20 This scripture is teaching about church discipline, but it is used frequently to teach if 2 or 3 people are gathered God is among them. Specifically verse 20. Also by using the term 2 or 3 it would also mean that if you have to have 2 or 3 to have God's presence, then you couldn't study your bible alone or pray alone which we know is not true.

Recently one of my core group members suggested that God maybe a woman? Personally, I was shocked that such a view existed. I have always referred to God as "Father" and "He" as in scripture. However, this person feels that one needs to have scripture support specifically where is says that God is a He. Does anyone know where it defines this in the Bible? What do you beliefs?

UFC Sighting

I have a bunch of friends who really enjoy UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). It’s kind of like boxing, but with a lot more options to get pummeled. I’ve grimaced through a couple fights, and wondered, is it okay to enjoy such a violent sport? I mean, I love football, and that’s pretty violent too. Thoughts?

Super Bowl Pro-Life Ad Turned Down by NBC

NBC turned down a pro-life ad that was intended to run during the Super Bowl. The ad showed an ultrasound of a fetus, explaining that the child would face hardships, but eventually become president. The ultrasound then faded to a picture of Obama.
