HAVE AN EVANGELISM STRATEGY
Are you a Cheese Head?
Brett Farve, Donal Driver & the Lambaeu Leap come to mind when you hear that question. Many people think of a Green Bay Packer fan, or someone from Wisconsin. But today I want to share with you about a different kind of Cheese head.
A week ago a teenager in our ministry shared with us how she started talking to a boy in her lunch table about Christ. After a few minutes some of the friends to this boy came up and sat at the table. With in a few seconds they started making fun of this girl and told her to shut up. When she continued to share her faith she got cheese thrown in to her hair. She was a embarrassed and but knew that this was because they didn't understand what Christ had done for them either, just then the bell rang, and on to class. Over the next 24 hours she was determined to she Christ again with this boy at the lunch table. The next day she sat down to share her faith once again with this boy. As she began to tell him about Jesus, about why God sent him, and why Jesus had to die on the Cross for his sins so that he might have eternal life, the other guys came around to the table and sat down but this time they just ignored her and kept quiet.
This allowed her to share her faith in such a way the boy, he asked Christ into his heart right then and there at the lunch table. She was so excited and is beginning to follow up with her friend Aaron. Why would she go back to a table that had no respect for her? Why go back after getting cheese thrown in her hair the day before? Because it was her 48-hour challenge. A challenge to share her faith with in a 48 time table. She had just gotten back with our youth group from the Dare2Share conference. It was an amazing time seeing teens learn to share their faith and get the tools to use them with more confidence.
She learned:
God created us to be with him
Our sins separate us form God
Sins alone can not be removed by good deeds
Paying the price for sins, Christ died and rose again
Everyone that believes in him shall have eternal life
Life that is eternal means you will be with Jesus forever in heaven
She learned a couple of questions that allowed to her to be more confident in opening up a "fork in the road." Meaning a place where everyday conversation can turn spiritual. I am very proud of her and others that are sharing their faith on a regular basis at their schools and with their families.
Do you have an evangelim strategy in line for your students? Is there something they can resource for tools, to equip them to share their wfaith with boldness when needed? If not I want to encourage you to check out Dare2share Ministires and Greg Steir at
www.dare2share.org They have some freebies that you can use in your ministry, as well as a weekly email sent to parents and teens helping equip them with tools to share their faith. If your kids are hungry to talk to their friends but dont know where to start take a look at D2S. It is nothing new just equiping students in a biblical way.
